Ma famille du Cameroun: de Paris à Yaoundé

I have prepared a few example lessons to use with this book, to get you started. Please note that in the slide presentation there are notes in the speaker’s section and that some of the slides are skipped when in presentation mode– they contain pointers for the teacher on how to teach the story. In addition, please note that I only included activities for the first three chapters to give an idea of what to do. You can make activities for all the chapters if you decide to teach this book.

A story crafted by a cultural insider holds a unique power, offering an authentic glimpse into the way people from that culture think and live. Consider the rich narrative of Ma famille du Cameroun: de Paris à Yaoundé. Co-authored by Jessica Reuss-Nliba and Didier Reuss, this book is a fascinating exploration of cultural contrasts. Jessica, who was born in Cameroon and moved to France at 19, shares her perspective through the eyes of a girl navigating the cultural landscape between France and Cameroon. The memoir-style book focuses on cultural differences rather than a plot filled with twists. Aimed at young readers with simplified language, it serves as an excellent resource for both language learning and cultural education. Didier Reuss, with his role in publishing young adult books, underscores the book’s educational value.
