Le thé (Sénégal) TV5 Monde

Posted by: Katy Wheelock

NB: Although this is not a “teacher-created” resource, the materials could be adapted for your classes. AATF accepts suggestions and resources like this as long as the original creator and link are provided as the primary source. Merci, Madame Wheelock!

This is an excellent ready-made lesson by TV5Monde to understand the importance of ataaya, or thé à la menthe in Senegal. The resource includes a video, fiche enseignant,  fiche apprenant where a Senegalese woman named Moussou explains how to make the tea and its importance in Senegalese daily life. The target lessons are for a B1 (ACTFL Int-High/Adv-Low) but a teacher at any level could show the video and do a movie talk, or simplify a lesson based on what students see.
