Jacques Prévert: Le passé composé en poésie

Posted by: Anne-Laure Justeau

In this slide show, you will find a daily lesson on passé composé (most likely for French 2). This lesson can be taught after the students have been exposed to some passé composé, but doesn’t have to be much. They don’t need to know their Vandertramps.  A project follows it (see project outline and rubric). It is an authentic resource!

The goal is to have the students practice through all 4 modes of communication (listening, reading, writing, and speaking) the passé composé. It includes important regular and irregular past participles (il a mis. J’ai pris).

The lesson is followed by a project where students will record themselves reciting (reading) the poem “Déjeuner du matin” by Jaques Prévert.

The slides include an example of a wonderful video made by a freshman in high school.

This is a fun and rewarding lesson. The students loved doing it. Some students did a rap song, some others made a puppet show. Others only recorded themselves and some worked in groups.
