Bonjour ! You are invited to use and collaborate on this large list of famous Francophones. The information about each person is fairly brief as the intent is to help teachers find a wider variety of people for special celebrations or lesson topics.
- Heritage months that are often celebrated in the US are listed. You are welcome to add columns for other special months and indicate which people fit that category directly or by heritage. For Hispanic Heritage, the (hi) in parenthesis indicates that the person speaks Spanish but is not of Hispanic origin.
- The professions are fairly general with only a little detail for a primary career.
- The countries for each person include birth countries, countries where the person lived, and heritage countries.
So with this document, you can look for people in specific types of careers, in certain time periods, for certain heritage months, in connection with specific countries, etc. You can add additional people as there are many who are not yet on the list. Please maintain the document in French as it is also shared with colleagues who may not speak English.
